A former riding student of mine was recently in touch. As I read about her life I came across the statement:  “Sometimes I eat three cupcakes a day!” I laughed and said to myself, “So do I!”

In that short statement she connected with me in a very basic and honest way.

“I buy them by the dozen and you must eat three a day because they get stale in four!” I replied. 

“You HAVE to buy that many and eat them that fast.” she quipped.

I recently joined a social media network that put me in touch with friends from the past. Reconnecting has been a joyful experience. I eagerly log–in each morning to see who may have written a message and to look at photographs and faces that have a connective history with who I am today.

In the past four years of isolation, both self-imposed and geographical, I have closed in upon myself in times of trauma and heartbreak. It has not been the wisest of choices.

As editor of a magazine, public speaker, writer and publisher I’ve had the good fortune to meet some really marvy individuals.  Not only has the interview process been challenging, it's taken me to new and interesting places. What an honor to become part of the lives of so many lovely people. Authors, musicians, agents, publishers, artists; and this list just barely scratches the surface. The women featured in the magazine have been so diverse that to record them all here would take up too (...)

There are many people I count on my list of friends. Some are newer, some I’ve had for years. All are special and have helped me through life’s difficult times. Then there’s Janet Harms. We met nearly twenty years ago when my dressage horse, Llyric, was running around the show arena like a maniac flipping his head in the air nearly taking my face off.   Janet subsequently became my trainer and an ongoing relationship of hysteria ensued.
